Sorry to my many loyal reader (mom) for the lack of recent posts, but a lot has been going on, mainly the birth of our daughter On October 27th. Baby Addison decided to make an early entrance (her estimated due date was November 21), and weighed in at 5lbs 15oz, 20 inches long. I will spare you the gory details (just picture hours of unnamed fluids, blood, screaming and sweating) but will share that her birth was completely, 100 percent natural, no drugs, anesthesia or epidural for me. The intense combination of pain, concentration, and anticipation was kind of like a p90x workout, only times about a million!
While I am definitely not advocating anybody have a baby just to get a good full body workout, I have to say that the experience was the ultimate workout – more than swimming across Donner Lake, beating the tar out of a punching bag with krav maga, more than all of the p90x workouts combined. The time since her birth has been a blur of hospital, sleepless nights, hundreds of diapers (how can a little baby poop so much??) and smiles (her toothless smile sets off my smile every time).
So here I am, cleared by the doctor to begin my exercise regime again, just as New Years resolutions are being made (and hopefully not dropped just as quickly). My resolution is to get back in shape, and I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve – p90x3 as a Christmas present and a baby to be inspired by. I am really looking forward to this workout, because finding 30 minutes between breast feeding, diapers and naps will be a challenge in itself, but seems doable. My other resolution is to get back to weekly blog posts with my weekly workout summary and an ongoing review of p90x3.
As we close out 2013, I wish you all a safe and happy new year!
